If Chelsea Kindrachuk lived in the 70s, she would have probably been one of those muses from her favourite movie “Almost Famous”. Inspired by music and her husband’s love for art – Ryan Green is the owner of the Masters Gallery in Calgary – Chelsea took her road into photography, transposing her aesthetic vision both in her personal and work style.
On what inspires her. Everything inspires me. Music, travel, art, photography, people – I don’t limit myself in terms of inspiration but when it comes to fashion, I usually look to musicians. I’ve never been drawn to anything too prim or proper so I feel artists usually possess what I love most about fashion – it’s ultimately about expression and there’s nothing more inspiring than having the freedom to express who you are!
On her collection of band Tshirts. I have four band Tshirts that are almost always on rotation but If I don’t feel like sporting my favourite bands, I’ll resort to a simple white or black Alexander Wang Tshirt.
On her favourite vintage and designer items. My favourite hotspot to shop vintage is EASILY Stoned Immaculate Vintage! It has everything from 69’ Woodstock T-shirts to guitar straps that were previously owned by Bob Dylan or Neil Young etc…talk about heartthrob! When it comes to high-end name brands, I always look to Gucci or Zimmerman – their stuff is SO dreamy!
On her favourite fashion era. As much as I love the 70’s, I’d have to say my favourite era for fashion would be today! 70’s is ‘back in style’ so it’s cool to watch current designers remaking and reusing things from the past but adding a modern spin! As for Makeup, I love the 60’s cat eye and if you know me, you know I’m a feline at heart.
On how travelling inspires her style. People watching is probably my favourite sport so travelling is always so exciting for me. I’m a sucker for Parisian women and could sit at a cafe all day and watch girls walk by. They’re all so unique and seem so comfortable with themselves and I always find that most attractive in people, clothes come second for me.
On her favourite items. My favourite items would have to be my new floral Gucci dress, my polaroid camera, all of my instruments and lingerie – ladies, what you wear underneath is just as important as what you wear on top. Look to Agent Provocateur to spice up your life!
On her style icons. I don’t think there are any rules when it comes to style so I’m either looking to men: Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and Mick Jagger… or I’m drooling over Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Bianca Jagger!
On shopping. With shopping, I think it’s good to experiment. Try stuff on you normally wouldn’t wear. Also, never limit yourself to one style or feel intimidated by different looks! My closet has a bit of everything from every era so I can rock the ripped jeans, band t-shirt with boots or a sexy dress with the ‘spank me’ heels! It’s all good fun…
